Hello and welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here at LCGO. We are an online study group for classical guitar enthusiasts. Learnclassicalguitar.online is a free community you can join and create a practice journal, watch tutorials, and get feedback on your progress. This newsletter will keep you plugged in with LCGO. I plan to use public domain études, studies, and methods from historic teachers and composers. I’ll be sharing the lessons I discover—so together we can explore technique, theory, musicality, and overlooked gems in the repertoire.

🎵We have a piece of the month challenge

Every month I suggest a different piece to work on. It will be a beginner to intermediate level study or etude that you can try out and learn from.

January’s piece of the month is Op.15, No.1 by F. Horetzky

February’s is Op.15, No.2 by F. Horetzky.

These studies are a great starting point for beginning guitarists because they introduce you to interesting music theory concepts and techniques for both the left and right hands. There is a lot to be learned from these important studies so let’s get started.

🎵 Quick Tip: Think in Intervals, Not Just Notes

This is easily one of the most important music concepts for guitar players. Having a solid understanding of intervals will help your music reading skills, and fingerboard knowledge.
Knowing your intervals will help your hands recognize patterns faster and improves your sightreading skills.
